Foundation for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (FCIDD) + Thomas Jefferson Civitan Club
The Fried Center for the Advancement of Potential (FCAP) is grateful for the support of the Foundation for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (FCIDD) and the Thomas Jefferson Civitan Club.
FCIDD supports organizations working to improve opportunities, accessibility, and quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The worldwide mission of Civitan International is to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs, with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.
Through its support of FCAP, FCIDD and the Thomas Jefferson Civitan Club have helped strengthen our ability to provide individualized fitness and wellness programming for adults with IDD, enabling FCAP to invest in updated strength-training, cardiovascular, and evaluation equipment at our Crozet location. These resources allow our team to provide more individualized exercise programming, appropriately dose physical activity, and expand access to equipment that supports strength, cardiovascular health, functional mobility, and independence.

The Jefferson Trust
FCAP is proud to partner with The Jefferson Trust, a donor-led initiative of the UVA Alumni Association dedicated to supporting innovative ideas that advance the University of Virginia and enrich the student experience.
Through its support of FCAP’s Intern Training Program at UVA Student Health and Wellness, The Jefferson Trust is helping prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals through meaningful, hands-on learning. FCAP’s model allows UVA students to put classroom knowledge into practice while developing skills in exercise prescription, communication, clinical reasoning, client-centered care, and professional leadership—all while contributing to the health and wellness of the individuals we serve. This investment creates a powerful exchange: students gain real-world experience and professional preparation, while community members receive individualized, affordable fitness and wellness services.
We are grateful to The Jefferson Trust for investing in innovative experiential education and helping FCAP equip students to learn, serve, and lead.
